Sometimes the people closest to us are the ones that hurt us the most. Unfortunately, that also includes financially. Affinity fraud is a serious problem in the US, especially in my home state of Utah. Community leaders, religious leaders, and other people in positions of trust can use their influence others to take part in risky or fraudulent investments.

Spotting these schemes can sometimes be difficult simply because of the implicit trust we place in these types of people. It is important to always maintain a mindset of skepticism when it comes to safeguarding your hard earned money.
